HOW TO BECOME A GOOD INTERLOCUTOR

A good interlocutor could be the one, who has the gift to make every person with whom he is talking to feel as a person of importance, to make him feel as if there are no other people existing at the moment.
This is not a hard task, the important thing is to observe several main rules and to pay attention not to make some popular mistakes.

So: in order to become a good interlocutor it is necessary that you should know how to start a conversation , how to maintain it and how to end it . But besides these three basic stages of holding a conversation you should have in mind also some unpleasant habits, which could spoil the good impression.

According to a recent research among people with various social statuses there have been established many unpleasant habits for the people, which create some irritations, and sometimes a total intolerableness towards the interlocutor. By the question “What irritates you most when talking to someone.” The interviewed persons have ranked their answers in the following way:

1.    Interrupting the interlocutor – this is the most unpleasant habit which the interviewed persons have indicated. 88% of the interviewed have ranked it first.
2.    The use of curses and rudeness – 84% of the interviewed have voted for ranking this unpleasant habit second.
3.    The unclear speaking and mumbling – this has made 80% of the interviewed ranking it third in irritation.
4.    Speaking with raised voice, as well as speaking with monotonous and boring voice are ranked fourth by 73% of the interviewed.
5.    The use of unnecessary jargon words such as: “you know, isn’t it, I tell you” etc. is ranked as something irritating by 69% of the interviewed.
6.    Nasal pronunciation and fast talking is disliked by 66% of the interviewed.
7.    Grammar mistakes, bad pronunciation of the words and the shrill and sharp voice are not received well according to the 62% of the interviewed.
8.    The interlocutor who is in love with himself, the one who speaks only about himself is also a very unpleasant and undesired interlocutor.

In the fast and dynamic life many people don’t think about how they entirely automatically make some of the above mentioned undesired actions.  But if we examine closer our behavior during a conversation, we should be able to identify our harmful habits. If we try and put some efforts in removing these habits, we could become a better and nicer person to talk to. This could allow us to make acquaintance with more interesting people and to make the bigger part of them our friends.
